M.A. Program

The M.A. Program is designed to further students' general knowledge of sociology and anthropology while also enabling them to focus on a specific field of specialization.  The program aims to train independent researchers, as well as prepare graduates for professional employment in a variety of applied fields.
 
Study Tracks
Students select one of two tracks:
Research Track (with thesis). This track is designed for those wishing to receive training as independent researchers. The track is a prerequisite for later doctoral studies. Sixteen course credits are required.
Non Thesis Track. This track is designed for those who do not wish to receive training as independent researchers. Twenty course credits are required.
The selection of a track, as well as other related issues such as the  transfer from track to track, requires the approval of the Departmental Committee for Graduate Studies, as well as the University M.A. Committee.
 
Study Programs
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers four specialization programs:
Program in Organizational Sociology (Thesis and Non Thesis Tracks)
Program in Social Psychology (Thesis and Non Thesis Tracks)
Program in Society and Culture (Thesis and Non Thesis Tracks. This program also includes possible Thesis Tracks in Anthropology and Sociology of Health)
Program in Organizational Consulting (Non Thesis Track)
 
Admission Requirements

A minimum B.A. average of 85 (of 80 in the case of the Program in Organizational Consulting) along with two academic recommendation letters are required for application. Applications should also include answers to the departments' application questionnaire and an updated B.A. grades list. Admission is on a competitive basis. The department admissions committee seeks to choose those students whom it considers to have with the highest potential for success in their studies. The committee will evaluate each application and make its recommendations to the University M.A. committee.
