Graduate Program in Urban Studies
Cities are fascinating sites of both hope and despair, where complex social, cultural, economic, and political processes take place. The Graduate Program in Urban Studies offers students an interdisciplinary framework for the understanding of cities, city life, and urban trends. It encourages them to think about how the spatial dimension of cities and the built environment shape behaviors, social relations, and cultural meanings. It addresses a variety of topics, including historical processes of urban and suburban growth; urban politics and policy; the role of cities and the urban landscape in public life, gentrification and marginalization; community, urban networks, and inequality; digital technologies and the smart city. The Graduate Program in Urban Studies equips students to analyze these issues in Israel and internationally applying both quantitative and qualitative research methods and provides them invaluable tools for dealing with current urban challenges.
The program includes both a research track (with thesis) and a non-thesis track.
